In 2008, SWECA - Swedish Central American Chamber of Commerce was founded with the stated purpose of promoting culture, tourism and trade between Sweden and Central America.
In 2024, SWECA changed its name to SWELAC - Swedish Latin American Chamber of Commerce. With this name change, the number of member countries in the region is expanded from just Central America to all Latin America. The purpose is thus the same as before, i.e. to develop business relations between Sweden and Latin America and to increase interest and commitment to the region in question, but on a broader scale.
SWELAC’s task is to take advantage of this commitment by supporting its members and helping them to mediate, channel, advise and assist them in their business activities focused on Sweden and Latin America. SWELACs strength therefore lies in the success of its members.
